What Happened to the Universities?

Image
University is a noun that can be plainly be described as an institution of higher learning. This could be the palpable reason many varsity students are high on drugs half the time they are on campus if not the whole time. A more intricate definition refers it to as “A number of persons associated into one body, society, company, community, guild, corporation, etc.” Further, the word it also means “the whole, aggregate or the entire” from universes in Latin. I have noticed a gradual paradigm shift creeping on what the universities were in their antiquity. Ergo, I want to authoritatively posit my thoughts on the existing current of the state of Universities in Kenya in contrast of the status quo ante. If that sounds interesting lets hop into it: When I was growing up I eagerly looked forward to joining the university. I had read from my history of how the nation’s university scholars were the ones shaking up the colonial regime before independence. Tom Mboya and James Orengo were among

The Beginning

Suddenly I have the urge to be the best that I can be . My heart is throbbing, or is it pounding with an adrenaline rush. Thoughts of opportunities and success flurry to and fro my mind. I suddenly feel I can do things. Why on Earth should I be avarege when I can be the best person in the room? Why should have thoughts of depression when I can have thoughts of happiness and bliss? Oh men oh men! All this time I've been watching things happen without a word or without any action when I could be the person making. Imagine this, I am supposed to be making shots, be the huncho/leader, you name it. But I have moved with the crowd. It's time to move. Oh my goodness, the great thoughts and having are throwing me into a frenzy and making me estatic- if that's the right spelling. Unfortunately there's no autocorrect in my diary. Back to what I was saying, yes, imagine am having thoughts which are so wild (full of wonder, great ambition, unexplainable). Wawawa thoughts and no

Let’s face it we are all part of an interconnected system of hierarchies.  These hierarchies are split between the two kinds of people He said: He that and he that not. In other words the rich and the poor, the famous well-to-do and the guys nobody cares living in abject poverty, the talented and the talent-less. In this article I want to delve on how you can rise in any given hierarchy. If that sounds interesting lets hop into it: You would think that with this self-evident marvel people will accept the fact we are not meant to be the same. We may try to be but never will be. We may pretend to be but never will be. Why? It is because the ones with something will have more and those with nothing will lose
